When and how do I use my resolution paper?

Mayumi asked me "when and how do I use my resolution paper?" and I replied:

You will share your resolutions during the ‘lobby’ session… informal conversation, which allows you to approach any country and ask them what they think of your resolutions.

Then, once you have seen which of your resolutions are ‘popular’ you’ll know which ones to present to the committee. The chair should ask for volunteers to present (or will ask you to hand in your resolutions so that he can type them onto the computer. If another country is agrees with your resolution during lobbying, then you can ask if you can add their name to the list of 'co-submitters'.

If your resolution is typed onto the overhead projector, you will probably be asked to give a short speech defending your ideas.

This will be the style your speech. e.g.: The delegate of X country believes that journalists should be jailed if they report on a war zone without authorization because (you explain for 1 minute).

The chair will then ask if you are «open to questions? »

You then reply « the delegate of X is open to any and all questions » or « the delegate of X is NOT open to questions.

Answer the one or two questions to the best of your ability (always using 'the delegate of X believes/understands etc."

The chair will then ask, « will the delegate of X please yield the floor? » You reply, »yes! » and you take a seat, job done.

If the chair ‘likes’ your resolution it will be typed onto the overhead screen (either at the end of the informal lobbying session or after your speech).
